Multiple Service Interruptions During the Week of Jan. 2nd

Various computing systems will undergo maintenance during the first week of January, 2007. Service interruptions will proceed as follows.

-- Thursday, January 4, 8am  through 10am

BLACKBOARD
Thursday, January 4, the Tri-College Blackboard system will be upgraded to version 7.1. From 8:00 am to 10:00 am, while the upgrade is in progress, you will be unable to access the system. Once the upgrade is complete, all course existing course data, including grade books and student submissions, should be accessible as before.

The new version of Blackboard brings some significant changes to the Discussion Board. It will also brings some subtle, but useful changes to the wiki and blog tools, including the option to create RSS feeds from your course wikis and blogs. RSS feeds can alert you and your students to new content, before you log into Blackboard.

-- Thursday, January 4, 5pm  through 7pm

On Thursday, January 4th from 5pm to 7pm Academic Computing will be performing maintenance on critical systems that control printing and sharing of software on campus. During the maintenance period Keyserved applications such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Mathematica, Filemaker Pro and Sibelius will be unavailable.

Networked printing for academic departments will also be suspended for 30 minutes from 6:30pm to 7pm. Those attempting to print to networked queues during this period may need to resend their jobs when print services resume.



-- Friday, January 5, 11pm  through Saturday, January 6, 4am

EMAIL
During this interruption users will not be able to retrieve mail messages from college servers.  No mail will be lost during the maintenance period. Mail sent or received during this period will be queued and delivered when service is restored.

Webpublish Server
During this interruption, users authorized to publish web content  will be unable to post changes to the college web site http://www.haverford.edu. The college web site, however, will still be able to serve pages to the Internet throughout the maintenance period.


-- Sunday, January 6,  9am - 10pm

Storage Server
Access to documents stored on the Storage Server will not be available during the maintenance period.  Student home pages, which are  housed on the Storage Server, will also be unavailable. Learn more about the Storage Server by reading http://www.haverford.edu/acc/docs/network/storage/about.html. The college's web server www.haverford.edu will not be impacted by this maintenance.
