The Storage ServerThe Storage Server |
About Space Allotment on the Storage Server (Quotas)Faculty have a quota of 4 GB on the Storage server. Students, staff, and all other users have a quota of 2 GB. Any files that you post to the Storage server will count toward your quota. This includes files stored in your personal folder (including your personal web space), in any departmental folders, and files submitted into another Storage user's drop box. Note that if you have posted files in any of the departmental folders or inside the writable folders of other users, this may also count toward your quota. Each file in shared folders count towards the quota of the last person to edit it. For example, if Sam places a file in a shared folder, it first belongs to him and counts as part of his quota. If Sally later edits that file, it no longer counts towards Sam quota, but instead it counts toward Sally's couta. If Tanya later edits the file, it no longer counts toward either Sam or Sally's quota, but Tanya's quota. If you are over quota, please delete unneeded files from the Storage server. Students who have filled their space with academic work, and feel they need extra space for their senior thesis or course projects should contact their instructor or thesis advisor. Upon recommendation by the faculty member, ACC will increase their allotted space if possible. Faculty or academic staff who need extra space, or are working with students requiring extra space, should contact their liaison. |
