Installing Recommended Software for the Mac

This page provides instructions for downloading and installing software from ACC's Software Download page. Most of the links on the Software Download page to MAC applications will download the selected software to your desktop to install, however a few of the links go to the websites of the software manufacturers, where instructions can be found on how to download the particular piece of software.

Downloading and Installing MAC Software

Stuffit Expander

Many of the Mac downloads on this Software Download page require Stuffit Expander to install. Verify that you have this program on your computer before attempting to install any of the other Mac downloads. If necessary, follow the instructions below to install Stuffit Expander.

Instructions When Using Internet Explorer and Netscape 4.x:
  1. Find the desired piece of software from the list on the Software Download page. Click on the appropriate link.
  2. The Download Manager window will appear as in figure 1.

When the transfer is complete as many as three new icons will appear on your desktop. The .hqx file is the one you downloaded. The .sea file is a Stuffit Expander Archive file. The remaining file is the installer application you will run (often recognizable by a diamond shaped icon).
