FireFox 2.x and https://www.admin.haverford.edu

Windows XP and Macintosh users that have FireFox 2.x installed are not able to view web directory photos, register for classes or use the administrative computing secure web server with FireFox 2.x.

Web pages that start with https://www.admin.haverford.edu are on Administrative Computing's secure web server. The FireFox 2.x default installation does not supporting encryption less than 64 bit, yet the Administrative Computing web server only supports 40 bit encryption.

Until Administrative Computing upgrades their web server to support high grade encryption, FireFox 2.x users may view our secure web pages with another browser (such as Internet Explorer or Safari) or by following these steps once to enable the needed encryption:

  1. Open FireFox 2.x
  2. Enter the URL location as the text "about:config"
  3. Enter the filter as "40"
  4. Double click the field "security.ssl3.rsa.rc2_40_md5" to set it as "true".
  5. Double click the field "security.ssl3.rsa.rc4_40_md5" to set it as "true"
