Student Employment Application
Summer 2008 and Fall 2008

If you are interesting in working for Academic Computing please complete this form. We have a variety of positions available during the summer and throughout the academic year. All positions provide training and a competitive salary. Unless otherwise noted, academic year jobs require a commitment of 6-10 hours per week, and summer jobs require 35 hours per week for 12 weeks beginning the Monday after graduation.

Lab Manager (Academic Year)
Help to manage the public computer labs via daily checks of the facilities. Keep labs stocked with supplies and ensure that all equipment is functioning properly. Lab Managers must be reliable and be able to work independently. Computer skills are helpful; a desire and willingness to learn more about computers are essential.
Help Desk Student Assistant and Residential Computing Consultant (RCC) (Academic Year)
Work at our Help Desk and/or as a Residential Computing Consultant to help students resolve computing problems in accordance with our Computer Support Policy. Help faculty and staff through our Help Desk. Help Desk SAs and RCCs must demonstrate strong computer and communication skills, have initiative, and be able to work independently. RCCs must also be willing to live on campus in accordance with requirements of the housing office and the RCC program.
Office Assistant (Academic Year)
Provide reception and answer phones in the Academic Computing office. Help with assorted office tasks including photocopying documents, sorting magazines, and researching information on the web.
Summer Krinsky Camp Assistant (Summer only)
Work closely with ACC staff to prepare computer resources for the Krinsky Summer Computing Camp. You will be responsible for computer image creation and deployment. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting the lab computers throughout the summer and providing user support to the campers. You need a combination of communication skills, organization, and computer skills. You also need to be willing and able to lift 50 lbs, so you can deliver and set up computer systems. This job is for 12 weeks, 35 hours per week, (usually 8:30 am - 4:30 pm). Because of the wide range of tasks, this is a great opportunity to learn a lot of different skills. This job starts Monday, May 19, 2008.
Summer Krinsky Evening Lab Assistant (Summer only)
Work closely with ACC staff to prepare computer resources for the Krinsky Summer Computing Camp. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting the lab computers throughout the summer and providing user support to the campers. You need a combination of communication skills, organization, and computer skills. You also need to be willing and able to lift 50 lbs, so you can deliver and set up computer systems. This job is for 12 weeks, 35 hours per week between the hours of 4:30pm - 12:00 midnight (although it can be divided part time between two people.) This job starts Monday, May 19, 2008.
IT Web Assistant (Summer only)
Work with faculty and other academic staff on projects that involve creating web pages, scanning and manipulating digital images, working with Blackboard, and other projects related to Teaching with Technology grants. Web assistants should have some experience creating web pages. They must also be able to work independently, yet follow guidelines. Artistic skill is a plus.
