Mathematica Installer for Windows Vista and XP

Follow the instructions below to install Mathematica on Windows Vista and XP computers while on the campus network.

  1. Download and run the Mathematica 6 installer, Mathematica6student.exe.
  2. Look for the Mathematica 6 setup screen illustrated below. In that window, check the first option, enter license information now. Click Finish. The installer will begin installing over 12,000 files. This takes a while.

  3. In the next window, when prompted click close.
  4. A new window, Personalize Mathematica 6, comes up. Select network license. In the server box enter "sassafras.swarthmore.edu". Click OK.
  5. If a window for the Wolfram Notebook Installer appears, say yes to install the plug-in.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions and accept defaults until the installation is complete.
