Install VirusScan 8.5 for Windows Vista

Follow the steps below to install ACC's required anti-virus software.

Note: Due to our license agreement, you must be on-campus or have a Haverford email address to install this software.

  1. Remove any previously installed antivirus software. To do so:
    1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
    2. Under the Programs section, select Uninstall a program.
    3. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove any previously installed anti-virus software.
  2. Download the McAfee VirusScan 8.5 installer.
  3. Select the Save option from the File Download dialog box; save the Application to your Desktop using the default name. The VirusScan installer icon will now appear on your Desktop with the name VS85iinstall.
  4. From your Desktop, double-click on the icon named VS85iinstall to begin the installation.
  5. If asked, tell Vista to Allow the installation.
  6. Accept all defaults, and agree to the license agreement.
  7. Reboot.
