Post to the College Web Server, www.haverford.edu

After determining where your files should be posted, you will need to copy your new or updated HTML files to that location. There are two basic methods to do this depending on the computer you use and how you access the network.

Note: If you did not change your password after September 2003, you will need to change your password in order to access webpublish.haverford.edu.

  1. Use the Macintosh or Windows file sharing mechanism to mount webpublish.haverford.edu and then copy files from your local drive to the appropriate location on the server.
    • Recommended for on-campus users
    • Recommended for off campus dial-in and VPN users
  2. FTP to webpublish.haverford.edu and drag and drop your files in the appropriate location on the server or use the "put" command to post them.
    • Necessary when off-campus without access to the dial-in server or VPN
    • Requires special care with regard to filenames
    • Instructions for using FTP Explorer on Windows
    • Instructions for using Fetch on the Macintosh

Academic Computing recommends using Dreamweaver to help you post your pages using file sharing, but you can also set Dreamweaver to transfer files using FTP. The detailed instructions below show you how to configure Dreamweaver for each of these methods.
