Figuring out the URL of your fileOnce you have published your web pages anyone who knows their URLs (or web addresses) can browse them. Thus, to publicize your pages to others, you need to understand the relationship between file names and URLs on the College web server. Files on the "www" volume on "webpublish.haverford.edu"If you posted pages on the webpublish.haverford.edu volume, www, the URL will match the directory path and file name. For example, the URL for a file on www in the folder "dept" named "filename.html" is
If you post the same file in the subfolder of "dept", named "subfolder", the URL is
The folder names are just listed sequentially, separated by slashes. You can link to this URL from other pages. Files on the "wwwinternal" volume on "webpublish"

Special File Names--Index filesSome files, called index files, will display by default, when no file name is specified. This allows you to publicize a simplified URL.
