Joe Amorim enters his 26th season as head coach at Haverford College. The holder of a United States Soccer Federation “A” license, he has continued the tradition of successful soccer teams at Haverford. His school-record 212 wins place him in an elite group of all-time winning coaches at the College.
Besides coaching at Haverford, Amorim has been the State Coach for the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association, coaching at both the youth and senior levels. Amorim also has served as senior coach for teams in the highly rated United Soccer League of Pennsylvania, winning championships with the Philadelphia Portuguese Soccer Club and the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals. Coach Amorim holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in philosophy from La Salle and Villanova Universities, respectively.
Don Norton returns for his seventh season as the Fords’ top assistant. Norton holds the NSCAA Premier Diploma, USSF "A" license and the Scottish Football Association “A” Certificate, and is a USSF state coaching school instructor for Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey. Norton is an Associate National Staff Coach for the NSCAA and a National Coaching School Staff Instructor for the African country of Ghana. He previously coached at Richard Stockton (NCAA Final Four) and Swarthmore Colleges, the University of Pennsylvania, and Rutgers University-Camden. A graduate of Gettysburg College with a master’s degree from Rowan University, Norton earned his Football Association Ireland “A” coaching license (UEFA "A" license) in Dublin between 1998-2000 and provided information about player development strategies in the United States to F.A. Ireland’s Technical Department in 2002. His writings have been published in Success in Soccer, Southern Soccer Scene and Soccer New England.
