Quick Guide to Endnote Web

_________________________________________________________________

What is Endnote Web?

Endnote Web is a browser-based application for the management and citation of references for research papers and other publications. It is available free-of-charge for Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swarthmore College students, faculty and staff while on campus or remotely connecting through a secure VPN client (HC) or proxy server.  For a comparison of Endnote and its more customizable desktop cousin Endnote Desktop is shown here.  Comprehensive information on how to use Endnote Web is available in the HELP section within Endnote Web. Instructions on how to use Endnote X is at http://www.haverford.edu/acc/docs/software/Endnote/endnote.html.

Getting Started with Endnote Web

If you already use Web of Science, it will be easy to establish an account as you save marked records to save to Endnote Web through their button. Alternatively, go to http://www.myendnoteweb.com to establish an account. You will need to be on-campus or connected through your college’s VPN client or proxy server to set up an account. Further instructions are in the HELP section of Endnote Web.

Settings for Searching and Downloading Citations from Various Databases to Endnote Web

For many databases, you can search within Endnote Web using the appropriate connection files rather than logging on to the specific database address. Caveats: You most likely will lose some special search features available within the native search interface. Subscription databases often ask for login/password information which users do not necessarily know.
