"Your work is to discover your work and then, with all your heart, to give yourself to it." -Buddha
I recently returned from my year-long study abroad in Mendoza, Argentina, and I miss it like crazy. Life without dancing in boliches, empanadas for lunch and my daily bus rides around the city is just not the same. Studying abroad was my favorite year of Haverford and the best experience of my life, so I’d recommend it to anyone.
Though I'm a Spanish major, I've dabbled in a bit of everything including art, English, and pre-med stuff. I truly wish I didn't have to pick a major because I've enjoyed almost every subject I´ve studied (except for hardcore calculus and physics). Most of all, I have enjoyed studying languages, literature, sociology, psychology and organic chemistry, and I'm a Spanish tutor/TA at Haverford, which I is so much fun. I also love to travel, study people and their cultures and to learn about almost anything foreign to me. My favorite hobbies include writing, drawing, painting and running. Most of my life, I've grown up on Long Island, NY, but I've also spent some of my childhood in Tampa, FL. I still can’t decide which I like better, but, ideally, every day would be between 60 and 80 degrees!
Aside from the science library, I consider Gummere to be my home at Haverford because I lived there for my first two years as a student, but, sadly, I was forced to move to Lloyd as a senior. Eventually, I hope to move to New York City.
I want to be a teacher, and I am currently in the process of applying for a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship in Spain. If that doesn't work out, I think I’ll be going to graduate school, but hopefully I’ll be in Spain. My current vision for my future is to do my part to close the literacy gap in our country by teaching ESL classes. I believe that, as Henry B. Adams said, "A teacher affects eternity. You can never tell where his influence ends."
